Development along the northern edge of Yeovil could have a significant impact on winter flooding, not just within Mudford parish but much further downstream on the Levels.
We are concerned that there is no fall back should the proposed Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) prove inadequate to control and mitigate flooding.
This is a concern not just for the present, but for the next 10, 50 or 100 years. Who will ensure that drainage ponds are kept clean and clear?
Floods in winter 2014 demonstrated how antiquated our foul drainage system is; raw sewage was clearly visible in flood water at the bottom of Mudford hill.
We believe there would have to be considerable improvements in our sewage system if this development were to go ahead.
