About FOMAG

Who We Are

Friends of Mudford Action Group (FOMAG) is a non-political, community-led group representing residents of Mudford and the surrounding areas affected by large-scale development proposals and related environmental issues.

Our membership includes people from across neighbouring villages and rural communities who share concerns about infrastructure, flood risk, environmental protection and public safety.

Our Purpose

FOMAG exists to:

  • Promote safe, sustainable and proportionate development
  • Scrutinise major planning proposals and supporting evidence
  • Raise legitimate concerns about flood risk, drainage and infrastructure capacity
  • Examine environmental, ecological and land history considerations
  • Encourage transparency and accountability in decision-making

We do not oppose development in principle. We support development that is lawful, properly assessed and genuinely sustainable for the wider community.

Why a Wider Area Matters

The effects of major development are rarely confined to a single parish boundary. Road networks, drainage systems, river catchments, schools, health services and emergency access routes all operate across a much broader area.

FOMAG therefore considers impacts on Mudford and neighbouring communities, recognising that decisions made in one location can have significant consequences elsewhere.

How We Work

Our approach is structured and evidence-led. We:

  • Review planning documentation and technical reports
  • Submit formal representations where appropriate
  • Seek clarification through statutory processes
  • Commission independent professional advice when necessary
  • Engage constructively with councillors, officers and stakeholders

We aim to remain factual, professional and respectful at all times.

Funding and Transparency

Where specialist legal or technical input is required, we raise funds from the community. Fundraising is linked to clearly defined objectives, and we are committed to openness regarding how contributions are used.
