Frequently Asked Questions

What is FOMAG?
Friends of Mudford Action Group is a community-led, non-political group representing residents of Mudford and surrounding areas in relation to major planning and environmental matters.

Are you opposed to all development?
No. We support development that is lawful, proportionate and properly evidenced. Our focus is on process, safety and long-term sustainability.

Do you represent the Parish Council?
No. FOMAG is an independent community group. We may support or align with Parish Council actions where objectives overlap, but we operate separately.

What is a Judicial Review?
A Judicial Review examines whether a public decision was made lawfully and in accordance with proper procedure. It does not reconsider the planning merits of a development.

Does a Judicial Review stop development permanently?
Not necessarily. If the court finds procedural errors, the decision may be reconsidered. The outcome depends on the specific legal issues involved.

Why is it expensive?
Judicial Review involves specialist legal representation and strict procedural requirements. Professional costs can be significant.

Why are funds being raised?
Funds are being raised to support legal and professional costs associated with ongoing planning and process matters.

How will funds be used?
Contributions will be directed towards agreed campaign-related professional costs and support for the wider legal effort where appropriate.

What happens if the fundraising target is not reached?
The scope of professional input may need to be adjusted. We will communicate clearly about next steps.

Why is flood risk such a concern?
Flooding impacts extend beyond individual sites and can affect neighbouring communities through shared drainage systems and catchments.

Are these concerns evidence-based?
Yes. Our representations are based on review of submitted technical documents and relevant statutory responses.

Why is historical land use mentioned?
In areas with documented historical agricultural or industrial activity, it is important that site investigation is proportionate and evidence-based.

Is FOMAG making claims about contamination?
No. Our position is that where historical records exist, appropriate investigation and transparency are necessary to ensure public confidence.

How can I stay informed?
You can sign up for updates via our website.

Can I help?
Yes. Residents can submit representations, share factual information responsibly and support fundraising where appropriate.
